The instructions provided in this section were verified against Apple.

Access from Apple Mail

You can set up your mail account in Apple Mail in two ways:

  • Manually.
  • Automatically. You will not have to specify the majority of the mail settings. Instead, Plesk will generate a link using which Apple Mail will download your mail profile with the necessary settings.

To set up Apple Mail manually:

  1. Open Apple Mail, select the “Other Mail Account” option, and then click Continue.

2. Specify the following information and then click Sign In:

  • The name that will be displayed in your emails.
  • Your full email address, for example, mail@example.com.
  • The password of your email account.

3. Select your account type. To keep the copies of email messages on the server, select “IMAP”. If you do not want to keep them on the server, select POP.

4. Specify the domain names of the incoming and outgoing mail servers and then click Sign In.

5. Once the settings are verified, choose what apps you want to use with the mail account and then click Done.

To set up Apple Mail automatically:

1. Open the link on the device on which you want to set up your mail account.

2. Link https://example.com/email.mobileconfig?emailaddress=john@example.com, where example.com is the Internet address of your website and john@example.com is your e-mail address. Open downloaded file.

You perform all the further steps in Apple Mac.

3. Open System Preferences then click on Profiles.

4. Then click Install to install your e-mail account profile.

5. Enter your mail account password and then click Install to install your mail account profile.

The setup is done. You can see the new account in Mail application.

If you wish to set up a mail account manually, use the following typical combinations of connection security and authentication method settings. If the settings do not work for you, ask your hosting provider about the correct combination.

IMAP, SMTP, POP3:

  • Connection security: SSL/TLS
  • Authentication: Normal password

Other parameters that you may need when configuring your account manually:

  • POP3 port: 995
  • IMAP port: 993
  • SMTP port: 465
  • Username. Your full email address. For example: johndoe@example.com.
  • Incoming server address (POP3/IMAP). Specify your website’s Internet address. Example: mail.example.com
  • Outgoing server address. Specify your website’s Internet address. Example: mail.example.com
